Is there any simple way to tell that a commercial DVD is not simply the VHS version transferred to DVD format but not DVD picture quality?

The biggest giveaway will be the resolution. A VHS or Beta transfer will have a slightly blurry picture, especially during fast movement Some manufacturers do just transfer the VHS version onto DVD because a better quality version might not be available
