Some common materials include ferrous metals, ceramics and plastics. There are also more exotic materials including samarium-cobalt, strontium-cobalt and alnico (aluminum, nickel, cobalt). Some of the exotic material magnets can have a magnetic force that is more than a thousand times as strong as the "common" ceramic refrigerator magnet.
