    If it is a messy, goopy sounding food like a potatoe salad or pudding, I have to shift my attention to something else before it grosses me out too much! why not just close your mouth while chewing?

    I actually don't mind it, for example in Pink Floyd Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast there's some awesome chewing sounds with the snap crackle pop of rice crispies and sizziling bacon etcetera.
