  • It depends on how much money your willing to spend. Shop around first and see what the best deal is. But personally i would go for the PS2 simply because it's cheap and less expensive than the XBOX and also the PS2 Games are pretty cheap ranging from $20-$100.
  • Depends. The PS2 has a far larger back catalogue though Of greater concern might be the hardware. The XBox is huge. The risk of it falling of a shelf are reduced by the self-detaching controller cables however. The PS2 is small, but the newer ones (especially the slimline models) are easily broken
  • Well i would say the ps2 but u might not like your kid playing mature games. The xbox is more family-oriniot so i'll chose the xbox.
  • I beleive the ps2 because from what i have experianced there is a lot of more arcade/super fast, fun games instead of more realistic games which I (im 14 years old) like (like the halo 2). Also it seems that the x-box is a little more durable and my ps2 got the lid chewed of by my dog(the slim version) and it has broken before.Even though a game console is not really what a 7-year old child should get *cough cough*. Be in mind that this is my OPINION and it might be different from what I have suggested. Happy Gaming :)
  • If you're planning to get a console for a seven year-old, you should look toward the PS2 because of sheer number of titles in PS2's libray (as well as PS1 titles), you should be albe to find games that you'd find appropriate for a seven year-old. You can go to your local Gamestop or EB Games, and buy a refurbished for around $99.99, which if I'm not mistaken carrys a warranty, it should be as good as a brand new PS2. But you may also want to look towards the GameCube, or the Nintendo DS.
  • WARNING! OPINIONATED ANSWER! Neither. The Xbox is mostly centered around shooters and increasingly immoral gaming. The PlayStation2 has a few clean titles, but a lot of it seems to be racing and sports. The GameCube (from Nintendo) is probably the best choice, because of it's so-called "kiddie" games (as if clean gaming makes you immature). However, the only drawback with the GameCube is sensitive parts (i.e. Memory Cards), though the smaller discs will also help prevent game errors due to smudges...
  • PS2 BECAUSE IT IS EASIER 2 CONTROL.
  • PS3 more non-violent games for PS2 and PS
  • None. Most children spend alot of time playing these electronic and video games. They will become addicted and will neglect their studies.
  • When children come to playing games, they will become addicted and neglect their studies
  • None Children will neglect their studies if they play to much
  • both have games like GTA San Andreas so it really don't matter
  • I would say neither, much more fun for them to play in the great outdoors, particularly at that age.
  • ps2 because it has much more games and i have play it with younger cousins that have played both and like them both but i get a gamecube more for younger kids
  • i think a playstation 2 is better for a child because the PS2s controller is smaller and the buttons are less than the xbox's and they are easy to memorize.
  • the out doors, a bike, board games, a basket ball, remote control car
  • I Would Of Thought, For A 7yr Old, A PS2 But Really They Are Both The Same Really.
  • I SAY X BOX BECAUSE A PS2IS TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A 7 YEAR OLD
  • Wii!!!!!
  • I say GameCube because its the best console for a 7 year old. It may not be the best but its the most suitable and GameCube's are really cheap these days
  • leapster ftw
  • buy the 7 year old a computer or buy him some educational games for the computer you already have, i know i had a lot of fun playing some educational games when i was little. or buy him a strategic game like sim city, age of empires or warcraft 3, warcraft 3 might be a little mature for him but they will definately help develop his mind and help him solve problems strategically
  • None of them.
  • neither. they should be outside running around using there imagination
  • I Depends Xbox has more Rayed M type games, Ps2 has nore Teen type games, Gamecube is more E type games so niether get the seven year old a gamecube!
  • What about a book and some adult interaction, story reading, listening to all kinds of different music while making art work WITH the child. Building something together, cooking or gardening together, planning to redecorate their room together in a manner that excites and pleases the kid? I'll probably get lots of down rates for this answer, but geez...why are so many parents so quick to sell out to these stupid, expensive gaming systems? What's wrong with providing stimulus that offers something of higher value...spending active time WITH the child, learning to do something new, or something fun and useful?
  • i would say the ps2 its got more sutible games but the came cube is even better as many of the games are fun and not serious which makes it ideal for a 7yr old
  • An Xbox because it has more games for younger kids
  • My son who just turned 8 has an Xbox. There are many good games on there for his age that are appropriate and he can play them without too much trouble. I don't know about the PS2. Never seen or played on one.
  • How about buying a child a baseball or something similar and...**gasp** send them outside! :)
  • i would have to agree the an xbox may be better, not only does it have child games but the kid can hold the controller. I have a ps2 myslef and find it hard to hold the controller
  • A game cube or a wii would be better.
  • They both have games for younger children, at that age, they won't see much of a difference, buy the heapest one of the 2.
  • Another choice. Xbox games can be violent and PS2 games can also be violent. Children may learn violence from their game console and pick fights on others so,again,NONE is my answer.(My cousin and my bro had learned violence from their game consoles and now i got so many briuse and of course they got punished)=)
  • WOW! What about all these people trying to say that a kid should not play any videogames at all? Use the imagination, read a book, bla bla bla... those are things that are obvious... could you not contemplate a balcanced scenario where a kid plays a few hours a week.. like 4 hours per week? and reads, and does karate, and takes swimming... don't be so frggin' simple American people... allow for shades of gray... complex answers... not just good an bad... Maybe YOU adults should spend some time learning how to play games so you can join your kid at their level and grow your relationship that way! Just a tought!
  • Leggos! Then they can use their imagination and build which ever they want. Seriously, I loved 'em . . . okay, I confess, I still like them. :0)
  • The PS2. It has more titles available for it, not to mention a ton of accessories.
  • Neither. Playing outside in the fresh air is better for a 7 year old child.
