    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The Cherokee call the May moon "Anisguti" -- the planting moon. During the May moon, the people are supposed to ready the fields and plant them using seeds stored the previous season, according to Chief Steven "Stone Bear" Phillips of the United Cherokee Nation. The traditional corn dance is also performed during this period.
