How fast does the average London Underground train go between stations?

    The average speed varies not only between lines, but also in lines. I work on the District (the green one). The NLS (Normal Line Speed) is 45mph. This is a maximum, tunnel speed is usually 35mph, but can be as low as 15 in certain areas. The Metropolitan Line have sections of their track where NLS is 60mph due to the distance between stations
