    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Released in the fall of 2001, the first-generation iPod does not have an external speaker. The only methods for playback on the iPod are through the headphones, a stand alone docking station with a dock connector for the iPod to connect to or by using an audio cable to connect to a computer or docking station with an auxiliary input.
