To determine your baby's daily formula intake range, multiply your baby's weight by two. This is the lower end of how many ounces he needs in a 24 hour period. Then multiply his weight by 2.5. This is the upper range of ounces required.

    Hello,

I am a Nutritionist and I will answer your question best my knowledge based on the information is provided. Babies who are between the age of 3 to 5 months old should be given 6 to 7 ounces of formula in 5 to 6 times feeding per 24 hours.

    Range in each Month
    3 month 30-34 ozs
    4 month 35-38 ozs
    5 month 39-42 ozs

If you are breastfeeding your baby that should be included in the amount of formula should be given. If you are breastfeeding the baby at least 15 minutes per feeding and how many feeding you are doing? An averge 15 minutes is about 2.5 oz of breastmilk and it could be more or less everyone is different. Everything should be accounted for in feeding the baby. It also depends on the baby height and weight baby is right now. The above informations is average calculation to feed the baby. Solid should not be given to the baby until the 4 month like rice cereal which is 1-2 Table spoon. First make the cereal very soupy and slowly thicken it. Baby should be fed in the sitting position.
I hoped that I answered your question. You can also ask your doctor because he would know based on your baby's height and weight.

The general rule of thumb with formula is that a baby should have about 2.5 ounces per pound of body weight per day. So, say your baby weighs 12 pounds, then you'd want to feed her 30 ounces of formula a day.

Now, since this is in the breastfeeding section, the answer may be different. The first thing is that it's very difficult to know how many ounces a baby is eating when she is breastfeeding. It's better to watch the output -- 6-8 very wet diapers per day, and a BM every day or every other day or so.

If you're going back to work and trying to pump enough for the baby to eat at day care, then you should pump as much as you can, send over a bottle for every 3 hours that the baby will be at daycare, and find out after the first week or so, how much your baby eats while you're gone.

For the most part, a baby will eat as much as she needs to eat, assuming she is being offered food when she is hungry. If there's not enough food, then she may not eat enough. But she will stop when she doesn't need any more.

There is generally a growth spurt around 3 months, as well, so she may suddenly be eating more than you expect. Demand will level off again.

My daughter is about 3 1/2 months and she eats about 24 to 26 ounces a day. She is on the small side though just by nature of her being. Her dad is very slim and well I am (supposed to be) little as well. The doctor says she is in fantastic health and on the right track, so I am not worried. I think questions like this are difficult to answer becasue every baby is different. I have a friend who has a 6 1/2 month old boy and his kid was eating almost twice what Teegan eats when he was her age, but that is waht he needed/wanted to be satisfied. As long as your baby is happy, healthy, growing and satisfied after each feeding, I believe you are feeding him/her the appropriate amount.

about a pint a day of milk,

and one serving of baby rice from 4 months depending on how hungry a baby you have, if the milk is enough for them then you dont need to start feeding food till 6 months

A baby this age could probably eat about 6 ounces every 3-4 hours. This varies with each infant, but 6 ounces would probably be a good average. Since this is the breastfeeding category, i would guess that you are pumping and wondering how much to offer in a bottle. I would offer 4 ounces, and then gradually add 2 more until the baby seems satisfied. Most babies will not overeat.

Well it all depends on your baby. Feed him/her until they are full. Watch their body language. Also you should start them on rice cereal if they are acting super hungry. When they turn 4 months start them on veggies. Only use one type of veggie for a week until their tummies are used to it. Then when they are okay with veggies introduce fruits.
I just had to do this for my baby :)
This is what my pediatrician told me so I'm not telling you some random things that I think of lol

YOUR BABY SHOULD BE EATING WELL OVER 8 OZ A DAY MY BABYS 4 MONTHS 2 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS AND SHE'S EATING ABOUT 6 OZ IN THE MORNING AT LIKE TEN THEN AROUND 2PM SHE EATS A 5OZ BOTTLE, 4PM SHE GETS ANOTHER 5OZ BOTTLE 6 OR 6:30 SHES EATING BABY CEREAL OFF THE SPOON THEN SHE EATS BANNAS. AFTER THAT SHE GETS HER BATH AT 8:30 HAS A CEREAL BOTTLE (6OZ) SHES UP TILL ABOUT 9:45 10 O CLOCK THEN SHE SLEEPS ALL NIGHT TILL ABOUT 8 OR 9 AM. YOUR BABY SHOULD BE EATING IN TOTAL IN A DAY BETWEEN 20-22 OZ'S A DAY PLUS BABY FOOD..... 8OZ'S ISN'T ENOUGH FOR A 4 MONTH OLD BABY. EVERY BABY IS DIFFERANT BUT I JUST WANTED YOU TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT KIND OF EATING SCHEDULE A 4 MONTH OLD BABY SHOULD BE ON. I MYSELF HAVE BEEN HAVING A REALLY HARD TIME KEEPING HER ON IT ITS TOUGH BUT YOU'LL GET THE HANG OF IT!!!!!!! ITS ALL WORTH IT

As much as he or she wants. My three month old daughter is eating 7 1/2 or 8 ounces, every two hours, depends on her apetite. She weighs 12.5 lbs. Doctor said to let her eat as much as she wants. The doctor will be adding rice to her formula at the rate that she's eating.
