    Great Answer

    Hand-picked by Answerbag's staff. (What's this?)

Yes, we've got our kidneys and then man gave us nitrates and phosphates and lead, cadmium and arsenic, pollution in our air, water and food, herbicides and pesticides... and on. Our organs are screaming for detox. They can not handle the load. Don’t believe me?? Go get a test at your local naturopath. YOU WILL BE FULL OF THE FOULEST HEAVY METALS AND TOXINS!

So we do need to do something. I am a huge fan of something that has been around for decades and I've used this since the 70s, always ending up feeling so much better, and now that I'm older I even feel the benefits more intensely. It's called the Master Cleanse. NO, it's not called Beyonce's lemonade diet. It's NOT a diet!!! It's a cleanse.

    The Master Cleanse Lemonade

The lemonade is prepared by mixing the ingredients in this free recipe:

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice. Use organic lemons, fresh, not bottled juice. Limes may be substituted. Lemon zest and pulp may be added, making sure that the lemons are organic and not artificially colored or treated with pesticides

2 tablespoons of maple syrup. This must be pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, Grade B, which has more color and nutrients than Grade A

    1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

Water. 8 ounces, preferably spring water, but not tap water or chlorinated water. Drink 6-8 glasses minimum each day.

You can do this once a week if you want or do it twice a year, spring and fall for 6-10 days, or I like to do it until I don't feel better. I usually get a sense of increased energy and perkiness and then around 6-7th day I feel like it's time to move on. But I add back foods very slowly, starting with veggies and fruits and maybe some rice. Then each day I add a food group back as I feel the need, trying to stay as 'clean' as I can. I stay away from 'white' things like white sugar, white flour and processed foods for as long as I can.

Do not use honey in the lemonade.

Do NOT take any kind of supplements or vitamin pills or using illicit drugs. You shouldn’t smoke or drink alcohol, coffee, tea, cola, but the good news is that your cravings for them usually completely disappear.

No other food or drink should be consumed at all.

To you eliminating, I'd take some Trifala (triphala) capsules which work very well. Find it in a health food store.

The best book for a good eating and living plan I've ever found (I'm on my third copy of the book ) is Staying Healthy with the Seasons, by Elson Haas.
    http://www.amazon.com/Staying-Healthy-Seasons-Elson-Haas/dp/1587611422/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223643663&sr=8-1

And this is a great nutritional guide that no home should be without if you really care about what you eat.
    http://www.amazon.com/Staying-Healthy-Nutrition-21st-Century/dp/1587611791/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1223643663&sr=8-2

Here is a video that sort of walks you through making a big batch of the stuff. It's kind of interesting if you don't know anything about this.

Your body has a detox system built right in. It's called your kidney and all you have to do to activate it is drink water.
For solids that you may have accidentally injested, activated charcoal will do the trick.

behatmewad has the right answer. I was taught in pharmacology that alcohol is an extreme diuretic. This can causes a loss of water from the cells. If you watch a group of people at a table drinking you will notice that once they start going to the bathroom to urinate, it becomes more and more frequent. They are actually losing more liquid than they are taking in. A hangover is simply the result of dehydrating the body, especially the brain. (The cigarettes smoked won't help the mouth any either!) Folks who say they have no hangover the morning after, either drink their water, take Alka-seltzer, take asprin with a glass of water, or do not urinate before laying down. The pills don't matter it is the water that counts. (If you don't urinate before bedding down, as the alcohol's diuretic wears off the water in the bladder is send back for use by the very dry body!) No, whiskey and water don't work! The morning after can be helped more by water drinking than anything else.

I detoxed for 46 days on a natural juice and distilled water fast. Because I needed to detoxify my body, from decades of comsuming unhealthy, man-made foods, and exposure to radical toxins. The fast completely and permamnently healed my high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sinusitis, skin rashes, skin fungus, and dandruff. Plus, I lost 66 pounds! The fast also initiated my permanent diet change from eating those unhealthy foods to a vegan diet. After two years I have regained only 10 pounds, my blood pressure is still normal, my cholesterol is still normal, my sinusitis never returned, nor did my skin problems. I am healed from all of those diseases! Hallelujah!!!!

you kids have no idea what youre talking about

    1. Heavily consume as much water as possible (THC is not water soluble, however, water will dilute the amounth of THC in your urine.)
    2. Take a diuretic. (Cranberry supplement, beer, caffeine, etc.)
    3. Take Vitamin B-2(Niacin) this doesnt help you pass, but it turns your urine yellow to avoid discrepancy of flushing your system.
    4. Do NOT eat anything with fat in it the day before or of the test.
    5. Exercise (break a sweat) if you have long notice before the test and do NOT exercise within 48hrs of the test.
    6. Zinc Sulfate or Zinc Glutamate. Zinc Sulfate has been said to mask THC in urine though this is not for certain. Zinc Glutamate is the substance you can get OTC.
    7. Pee as much as humanly possible to cleanse that bladder
    8. Creatine. Buy some creatine supplement, if your urine is diluted they will detect it through creatine content. So take some creatine.

Vinegar does NOT work for THC, however it may be effective for anphetamines and other hard narcotics because it is acidic.

The most effective detox drink is to drink lots of water and lemon juice. Consuming adequate amounts of water every day will expedite the digestive system so that we will be unavoidable from digestive problems such as ulcers or constipation. Burning calories will also be run efficiently. lemon juice is the most effective to clean toxins from our bodies. You just need to eat lemon juice for 10 days. After doing this detox diet, your body feels more fresh and light.

The best detox remedy is not some pharmacy or herb based miracle cure. The best cure for what ails you concerning alcohol is more of what made you ill in the first place, in the case of a hangover...alcohol...is your best cure. Remember, when you drink enough to get wasted, enough to cause a hangover, your body is not feeling the after effects of the alcohol, but is still under the influence of the alcohol. Taking in something as simple as a beer or mixed drink will level out the chemical imbalance causing the hangover.

I know to some it may sound strange, but to those some, I suggest you at least try it. I have a fave recipe below, it's great for whenever you feel sick or hungover, and it's full of potent and beneficial vitamin C. Works best if you have a blender.

    "Lime in da Coconut"

    Rum (1 shot glass)
    3 limes
    Cream of Coconut
    Orange or Grapefruit Juice

Squeeze out the juice from three limes into the blender, take care not to drop in any seeds. Add about two to three ounces of OJ, and about three to four tablespoons of Cream of Coconut, and liquify all the ingrediants in a blender. Add one shot of rum, or two if you like it a bit stronger and set the blender on mix. Pour in a glass over ice and enjoy.

It's a lot better than alka-seltzer, as asprin and ibuprophen can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding when mixed with alcohol...so abstain from them. You may have to adjust the recipe to your taste, less lime, more coconut...etc.

    This always works for me....

Chop about 4 tablespoons of parsley and steep in boiling water (covered) for at least 10-15 minutes. Parsley is a fabulous diuretic and is extremely healthy for the body during detoxification! Hope this helps.

    1/4 C black strap molasses
    1/4 C honey
    ginger-powdered works fine
    2 green tea bags
    1/4 C lime juice
    8 C water
Heat water, ginger and teabags in microwave for 5 minutes. After very warm, add remaining items. Stir until disolved. Drinking warm is ideal, looks like coffee. It is decaffinated, and tastes GREAT!

The area to be detoxified will indicate what method is best. Also detoxification can be for alcohol, drugs, or normal wastes that your body creates. Your question wasn't specific. Various methods for eliminating toxic substances from the body include the modification of the diet and addition of certain herbs and rituals such as colon hydrotherapy, body cleansing, juice fasting, and saunas. All of these methods are claimed to assist the body's natural detoxification process, but none have been proven.

Detox is about getting rid of the toxins in your body and getting in the needed minerals and vitamins. Take a blender and mix together fresh fruits and vegetables. Anything that's green is very good for detox.
