Help answer this question below.

My 1988 560 SL Mercedes Benz has oil in the spakpugs and it's not running smoothly as a result. What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

    if you have a white smoke coming out of the car you have to reblace the Valve Stem Seals and that requir the engine to come off the car.

    I doubt the oil has anything to do with it.
    Check to make sure that you have the spark plug wires on the correct cylinders. Then Check to make sure the gap is set uness they are already gapped.
    Since it is an 8 cylinder, it will run if you have 2 wires reversed. After checking that. I would replace the wires. The funny thing bout the electrical system, or cars in general is, once you replace something, the next item in the chain of parts will go out.

    You probably have worn out valve seals and valve guides. The solution is you do not have to take the engine out. Both cylinder heads have to be removed and sent to the machine shop for a valve job. Your problem will be solved and the car will run another 100,000 miles. I have worked on mercedes-benz since I was 14 and have owned my own shop for the past 35 years. Good luck!
