Maximum? Depends on the format. When I use JPEG fine on my 5.1 MP camera, I get about a little over 100 images per 256MB card (i.e., 200 per 512 MB or 50 per 128 MB). However, when I shoot in RAW format, I get about 30 per card (i.e., 60 per 512 MB or 15 per 128 MB). I also have a TIFF format that I don't use. It uses twice the storage space of the RAW format images. Since the RAW and TIFF storage formats do not perform any lossy compression, as does JPEG, they will produce a better quality image.
