    Download a free AVI-to-MPEG converter online. (The Resources section has a few options.) After the EXE file is downloaded, double-click on it to run the installation process. Once installed, open the converter.

    Import the AVI file into the program. Click on the button to "Browse" your computer, locate the AVI file and press "Open." Press "Convert" in the program in order to begin the conversion process. If prompted, specify a location for the file to be saved to. After a few moments, the file saves on your hard drive as a newly created MPEG file.
