Drive slower. EarthEasy.com states that you can improve your gas mileage by 15 percent driving 55 mph instead of 65 mph. The slower the truck is traveling, the less force the engine has to use to keep the truck moving. Accelerate slower. Gradually push down on the accelerator and don't floor the pedal. Getting this truck up to speed already burns a lot of fuel; there is no need to make it burn more by pushing the engine more than it needs to be pushed. Allow the truck to slow down gradually and avoid slamming on the brakes whenever possible. Remove unnecessary objects in the bed of the truck. Carrying around that 50-lb tool set and your 40-lb set of golf clubs will make a difference on this truck's miles per gallon.
Keep the engine well lubricated. Regular oil changes will make sure the engine stays well lubricated, and check to make sure the tires are at the appropriate psi as recommended by the F-350 6.0L manual. The recommended psi is between 65 and 75. This is not only the ideal psi for fuel economy but also the safest.
