Click on the "Insert" tab near the top of the page. In the "Illustrations" module, click on the button labeled "Shapes." In the drop-down menu that appears, select "Lines, and then select "Diagonal Line."
Your mouse cursor will turn into a plus sign. Click where you want the line to start, then move your cursor up or down to the place where you want your vertical line to end. To create a perfectly vertical line, move the cursor left or right until the dotted segments of the line are aligned, then click to complete the line.
Under the "Format" tab, you can now change the line's color, outline and thickness. If you click on the line and drag it, you can move it anywhere on the page.
