First off, I should warn you that it is not safe to loose more than a few pounds a week. And when I mean not safe, I mean it - as in you could die if you don't watch your nutrition (though certainly this is not always the case). Plus, you will almost certainly gain the weight back and then some. I would also question why you have to loose that much weight for someone else's wedding. That said, let's do the math. Limit your intake to 1500 calories. That is the lowest you want to go. Trust me. If you go less than that your metabolism will slow and you will end up gaining more weight before the wedding day. Over 6 weeks, trimming your intake to 1500 calories will save you 21,000 calories (compared to eating the normal 2000 calories a day). 21,000 calories = 6 pounds of fat. While it doesn't seem like a lot, it is a good start. You now have to work off the remaining 21 pounds or 73,500 calories. To get an idea of how much that is, walking a mile will probably burn about 100 calories. So that is 735 miles or about 17.5 miles per day. If you do more strenuous exercise, you'll burn the calories quicker but you are still looking at 6 weeks of hell. Between overworking your body and becoming nutritionally deficient, your body is going to be tortured. Do you see why this is unhealthy? My advice - loose a few pounds before the wedding, but don't put your life and sanity at risk for anyone who can't accept you as you are. VenusxMantrap: Do the math. Surely you do not think this is a healthy or wise way to loose weight! Starvation diets are not only dangerous because of the low number of calorie, but also because the body can run fatally low on nutrients vital for sustaining life such as potassium. Unfortunately, eating disorders lead far too often to death. Kitty Kat: Over 4 pounds of fat a week is not healthy and generally not sustainable over a few weeks. When people first start loosing, they sometimes get the idea that loosing a few pounds is easy, in part because they loose a lot of water weight (I appear to fluctuate nearly 5 pounds in water-weight). But to keep loosing you have to loose fat, not water, and that is harder especially since the body tends to accomodate to changes in diet and exercise making a weight loss plateau. The huge problem with trying to loose this much weight this quickly is that many people, in desperation, turn to unhealthy means of loosing weight such as starving themselves or working themselves too hard. I still believe that it is unsafe for the average person to try to loose that much weight that quickly unless they are getting specific guidance from their doctor or a reputable weight loss expert.

Go on the Atkins diet- you can lose ten pounds in the first two weeks. I did it after both of my pregnancies and lost 35 pounds in 6 week.

Count your carbs. Don't eat or drink more than 35 carbs per day. You'll lose 3-7 lbs. per week.

you know Karma Kitty is SO right. I need to loose that much weight-25 lbs before I go on my awesome trip to California...but they are right. I am trying to eat healthier and get my calories from the right sources as well as do weight training with a trainer. And some cardio. It's slow...I only lost 3 lbs in the past week and a half but I am TRYING DESPERATELY to be patient. GOOD LUCK!
