The name "20th Century Fox" came about when Joseph Schenk's "Twentieth Century Pictures" merged with William Fox's "Fox Film Corporation" in the early years of the movie industry.

The name celebrates this relatively venerable pairing, and so is still valid.

Because 20th Century Fox is a name, not a calendar. Century 21 Real Estate has had that name long before the 21st century came into being. So hence the name 20th centrury fox- Established in the 20th Century thus naming their company after the century and in 300 years from now, they will still have their historic name indicating that they were founded in the 20th century.

It's probably because they made the company in the 20th Century. It's probably to represent the century they made it in.

I remember that they thought about changing the name at one point, but decided not to.

Although probably a " fish tale",apparently, someone patented "21st Century Fox" before the company could.Offered to sell said name but the company refused.

    Great if it were true.
