This is going to sound very obvious, but how about... Friday the 13th? (As in the movie, Friday the 13th.)

Go see Blades of G Lory its really funny. I'm not suspicious over Friday the 13th, just another day to me lol.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - original version. The Hills have Eyes - both original and 'new' versions are good. The Last House on the Left Wolf Creek Shaun of the Dead - very funny. Others.. Alien or Aliens Poltergeist The Ring - US Version The Shining - either Jack Nicholson or the miniseries version. Children of the Corn The Wicker Man - original version, don't touch the Nicholas Cage one. Resident Evil - a fun movie. Some of these are more cult classics, and more scary because of the suspense and sudden gore factor or suggestion of gore rather than the supernatural. It depends on what you are into. I'm more into suspense/suggestion to get the adrenalin pumping than supernatural elements.

Something that deals with an existing holiday or special date or event and that was used as a premise for a horror film, or something similar in nature, like Urban Legends, My Bloody Valentine or Prom Night. Besides Friday the Thirteenth (Which actually has nothing to do with the actual date whatsoever.) those sort of movies might be ideal to get in the mood and make them slightly more special.
