Help answer this question below.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, nuclear power plants emit no air pollution. This lack of pollutants, combined with increases in efficiency, accounted for a reduction of 100 million tons of carbon dioxide in 1998, which was nearly half of all voluntary greenhouse gas reductions. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognizes the danger of nuclear contamination from emergencies at nuclear plants, transportation accidents involving radioactive cargo and acts of nuclear terrorism. The danger of a meltdown, spent fuel leak or other contamination threatens the safety of surrounding communities and habitats. The use of nuclear power greatly decreases greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants, but the possibility of reactor malfunctions and concerns over nuclear waste are due serious consideration before relying on new nuclear power plants to diminish pollution. On One Hand: Nuclear Power Plants Do Not Pollute the Air
On the Other: Nuclear Power Has Other Dangers
