I certainly hope not. My daughter was emo for quite a while (she has now grown out of it), she was brought up with the love and affection that every child deserves.

I doubt it. More like the natural tendency in teenagers to be self absorbed and self pitying leads them to be an individual and follow all the other misguided teenagers to be emo. Emo is actually merely a style of music and not the whole cut your wrists crap that these children have taken on.

Not necessarily. They dress and act emo because they do not have the demands in life by which they would be driven to dress and act a little more conventionally.
