But seriously, I don't think our government has reached the point of needing to be demolished or overthrown(not that it can be anyways); that would just result in chaos and leave a great opportunity for our enemies to take advantage of us, whether its economically or physically.

Ha funny poster, I have heard something else along those lines as well. "Travel to exotic places, meet new people, then kill them." That really doesn't represent the people of America, but it does show a lot of what others have been seeing, our government and military...

I don't agree with all of our foreign policies, at times it seems like the Us is trying to police the world. I don't believe in that either. But I think the US should focus on domestic issues. The world is a big place and we aren't the only ones that have a brain. Let the rest of the world figure out their own problems. We need to do the same thing. We need to concentrate on fixing our own country internally before we can do a single thing to help other countries. And I don't mean that as in "we should try to run them" Quite the contrary. Every country should be self reliant.

Ah come on, have a heart! I just got back from Spring Break! I wasn't ignoring the conversation. I do agree with you up to a point, but the U.S, has other responsibilities as well to the outside world besides working on its own problems. It decided to take a unipolar stance, instead of a multipolar one, these are the consequences of taking that role. The U.S. can't just drop everything its been doing and plans to do just because somethings have gone wrong. Any path that would be taken (that's known to us so far) has these kind of problems. The world is a messed up place and this is just the way that the U.S. has chosen to deal with it. I'm sure with all the brains they have running around, they looked at every possibility and they chose this one for a reason. What those reasons are, I don't know, but I have some confidence in my government, even if I don't understand everything. That's all I can really say on the subject matter. You might not agree with me (actually I'm expecting you not to), but this is just the way I interpret the world and what people (and governments) do.

Great response Desiderata. It's true that the US has started a lot of programs that have effected other countries. Some of them are good for the US with little or no negative impact on other countries, some of them have good outcomes for the US with horrible impact on foreign countries, and some that have no benefit to the US in any way, but help other countries.
I personally believe that these programs be slowly phased out. We once knew how to support ourselves as a country, and we should return to that. As do other countries.
It is one thing to give a man a fish while you teach him how to catch it him self. It is quite another to keep giving him fish because he doesn't want to learn how to catch it himself.
