Some products, even the more natural or least toxic, may not be accessible for an unlicensed applicator. Sorry. However, in the main, often people overdo pesticides and really set up very hazardous conditions. On some of my other answers, you will see some data about products which you can use...however, most are designed for outside the home. Once termites infest the home, it is best to call an exterminator. Some of the chemicals used for termites can be extremely toxic and cause all kinds of havoc with health for a household, even for years to come. It is time for a licensed person if they are in the house and even then, do your research. There are some nightmare health stories about toxic applications. Once your house has been contaminated, it could pose major health risks for years to come to anyone residing there. So, do some good investigation on the chemicals to be used.

As a sidenote: [Gosh! Some of these termicides are even sprayed on nuts and their containers when they are shipped into the US. Incredible that such extremely toxic substances would even be used near food.]

A lesser toxic substance for an exterminator to use probably would contain fipronyl. Here is some data on a trade name: Termidor is applied like any other termite chemical, it is mixed with water, it has no waxy properties and is applied to the soil. According to the manufacturer, Termidor (active ingredient - fipronyl) works as a "cell degenerator" and therefore has a slow killing effect on the termites - usually 90 days. It is passed off to the other termites through "lipophilic" or "through the skin" contact and is translocated around the colony network by the termites and body to body contact.

Something entirely non-toxic and I have heard of being applied on interior wall spaces which are also moist, is a special breed of beneficial nematode. Gulf Coast Tech out of the Houston area sells 'em. AntiDote is a tradename. Evidently you inject them into the wall where there are termites. Since the nematodes will spread throughout the colony, it may be worth a shot. It is non-toxic entirely. These are not cheap...around $80 for only about 10,000 nematodes or so. But, it is cheaper than many pest control places and entirely non-toxic. How efficacious it is, I don't know. This could be a do-it-yourself...buy a turkey-cooking injector and shoot some of these into the wall...??...who knows?

Termites need a professional. IT's very difficult to get rid of them and they burrow into your house where you can't get to them. Call a pro.
