Sharpies are made from "AP certified nontoxic formula," which means they have been approved by the Art & Creative Materials Institute (ACMI). ACMI has a toxicology team headed by Woodhall Stopford, M.D., of Duke University. This team considers each ingredient and its quantity, possible adverse interactions with other ingredients, the product's size and packaging, potential acute and chronic harm to any part of the human body, possible allergic reaction, how a product is commonly used and misused and national and state labeling regulations. It's no secret that sniffing a Sharpie, or any permanent marker for that matter, can make you feel dizzy and even nauseated. You might get a headache. And scrubbing "permanent" ink off your skin can take a long time. It's better to write on surfaces other than your skin--or anything else you don't want to permanently stain. If you've written on yourself, the ink won't hurt you. But it'll take a while to erase it--and maybe to get rid of the headache you got breathing the fumes while illustrating yourself. "AP" stands for "Approved Product." According to Dr. Stopford and his team, you won't get sick or die from the cartoon your classmate drew on your arm or the phone number you scribbled on the back of your hand at work.On the Other: It's Hard to Wash off and the Fumes Are Strong

You can try.
But I doubt it'll work.
Nope, I love writing on myself with sharpies!!
no
If I remember correctly a professor of mine told me you had to lie in a bathtub full of ink for a while to get to that level of severity. Writing on yourself shouldn't even be a hazard.
YES but thankfully the antidote is whiteout.
Idk. People do it all the time, and I've never heard of that.
lol im sooo tired of teachers sayin "STOP! it will give you ink poision!".., come on! thats bullsht...IT WONT..and the proof is right up there, where julie anne fidler postest her PROFESSIONATLY RESEARCHED answer!!!
and idk why ppl say its PERMANANT...permanant means it will never come off -_-...soooo if its SO CALLED PERMANANT then how can i wash it off ? lol, its not hard!!! just wash and srub!..i swear...idiots these days :)
my doctor thinks i have ink poisoning because ive been writing on my right arm for about two years, probably 4 times a week. ive been using sharpie and aparently it can seep through the skin and into the bloodstream. but you have to get at least an ounce of it in you to even be at a slight risk, and an ounce is more than the entire pen.
considering ive probably used more than three sharpies over time im probably screwed.
i dont beleieve so, 1 of my teachers told me one time tho that you can absorb it thru ur skin, but i dont think it can hurt u
Nope, maybe if you keep coloring with it right on ur vain non-stop or something..... but only someone stupid would do that...!!!
Yes, but only the red ones After writing on your self with a red sharpie you have 12 hours to get to an ER or else you will die!
