Use alternative method of protection until next cycle (or at least that is what I'd do)

G'day Words o wisdom, Thank you for your question. Contraceptive effectiveness may be impaired if you are 12 hours late in taking a pill. Normally, you take a pill every day for 21 days followed by no pills or placebos for a week. The effectiveness of the program is impaired if you don't take the pill at the same time each day increasing the risk of pregnancy. I have attached sources for your reference.
