Theres a town in Northern Germany called Hell and it had a furious snowstorm and then freezing rain. In short it froze over and made the news. The re-enlistment officer promptly sent out re-up notices to all those who had indicated they would re-enlist when Hell froze over. >true story<

There's also a town named Gad in the midwest, The army corps of engineers built a dam there. The normal practice was to name the dam after the town... They didn't this time though.
