Why are you chewing foil in the first place??

My husband had a temporary crown which was metal and he hit it with a fork and you should have seen the look on his face. My fillings are not the silver type so I can't replicate your experience. Let me tell you that Orbit gum is probably more fun and will make your breath smell great.

Put two different metals in an acid and you get a battery. Saliva can be acidic (pH varies from 5 acid to 8 alkaline). You have mercury amalgam fillings and aluminum foil. Two metals. You feel a similar tingle you the one you get if you touch a 9v battery to your tongue, the smalller voltage generated is being amplified by your sensitive tooth nerve. At least, that's one possible explanation.

it is because amalgam fillings in your head cause electrical currents when its with your saliva. this is called galvanic reaction. this might sound far fetched, but appartenly people have reported hearing radio stations in there mouths
