Help answer this question below.
Researchers at the Scheie Eye Institute at Pennsylvania University have found that children under the age of 2 who slept with a night light on were five times more likely to develop short-sightedness later on in life than those who did not sleep with a night light. Normally, short-sightedness results in the need to wear glasses.
Though there is an association between night lights for children and short-sightedness, an actual cause and effect have not yet been established. There might be other factors to consider, such as the type and degree of night activity during periods of sleeplessness.
Sleeping with a night light at a young age might contribute to short-sightedness, and thus the need to wear glasses. However, more research is required to establish a cause and effect relationship.
