Help answer this question below.

I have a 6 yo male cat and an 8 yo female cat. they have always gotten along. My female cat rules the roost. All of a sudden, the male cat is attacking the female cat. What could be wrong? No environment

    A female cat will rule the roost only as long as she is a queen with kittens. Other wise, the unaltered male will be the king. If the male is altered then he will be far more aggressive in defending his space. An altered female is at the very bottom of the totem pole in cats. Maybe the male is just asserting his dominance over the female.

    Maybe they are just playing, I have a 1 year old female and a 2 year old male, and they attack eachother all the time. But they're not hurting eachother, just playing.

    The male is taking on his territory - Plus the female is old enough to have kittens so the male is reacting
