early morning - best view, least crowded plane, less families with kids and more business men. and then when I get where I'm going, I have the whole day ahead of me.

Night, but I guess it depends how long the flight is, where I'm going and whether there's still life when I arrive. For example, leaving UK to go to HK is 12+ hrs (direct). Leaving UK in the evening, I'll arrive 4'ish (pm), but that's okay 'cos there's still lots to do on arrival. However, if taking a night flight means I'll arrive at my destination at night and there's nothing to do, but go straight to bed, then I rather not 'cos it feels like I'm wasting money on an extra night at the hotel or wherever.

Domestic or short haul--always in the morning and 1st thing--usually the plane is at the jetway from the previous nite so there are no connecting issues. International or long haul---always at night so I can take a nap and help get acclimated upon arrival.
