As prices come down, jumping stilts may become the next big fad. Combining the best of stilts and pogo sticks, jumping stilts allow their wearers to become the next Six Million Dollar Man. This new sport is called "powerbocking." Each jumping stilt has a harness into which you can strap your foot and a second harness that fastens to your leg, just below your knee. The core component of jumping stilts is a spring made of high-tech carbon-fiber. They are both light and strong. The spring is curved slightly, connecting to the harness below your knee and arcing down under your foot harness. It connects to a lever there. By bouncing up and down, the lever allows you to bow the carbon fiber spring, which then straightens and propels you upward. Jumping stilts make it possible to jump as high as 10 feet off the ground, and to run as fast as 25 mph. Jumping stilts are in the same category as BMX bikes and skateboards. Helmets and pads are a necessity.Attachment
