I don't think someone can get over it. Although some people aren't sure if they have a fetish or just a kink, but if it's a deep hard-wired fetish, it usually doesn't leave you.

I don't know about 'not getting turned on by it'. It usually is something rooted in your persona, a personal liking. You can sort it out so that it turns you on in other fields than sexual ones. It can be hard to break that habit, and it usually is, but I think it's doable.

I doubt it. The closest that I've ever come to getting rid of a fetish is just not getting turned on by it as much, or not desiring it as much, and that's only because I developed new fetishes to occupy my libido.
