Pit bulls are powerful, passionate dogs who display intelligence and affection to the people who care for them. If a female pit bull isn't spayed, there's a good chance that she'll present her family with several new bundles of affection. Breeding is a natural phenomenon. Once a female dog becomes mature and starts going into heat, she will be intent on finding a mate and breeding. This instinct to reproduce is entirely natural. One of the first factors to assess when an owner is trying to decide whether their pit bull is pregnant is whether or not she has been around a male dog recently. If she was exposed to a male, and particularly when she was in heat, there's a good chance that she's pregnant. When a pit bull becomes pregnant, her behavior and body will change. Her owner, who knows her better than anyone else, will be the first person to notice such changes and begin to suspect. A pregnant pit bull will display some early signs of pregnancy in both her body and her behavior. She will have decreased appetite and activity level. Her nipples will grow noticeably larger, and the area beneath each nipple will swell. As the pit bull pregnancy continues, the pregnant pit bull will experience increased appetite and significant weight gain. Her stomach will grow round and firm. Toward the end of the pregnancy, puppy movement will become definite and noticeable. The Facts
