Trading on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) and NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) stock exchanges takes place Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4 pm Eastern Standard Time. The NASDAQ stock market has after-hours trading between 7 am and 9:30 am and between 4 pm and 8 pm Eastern Standard Time.
