RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America) sued a dead man's children, only dropping the suit after they took it to the papers. Do you think that you can sue children for a dead parent's guilt?

    Yes, in principle, but probably not in this case. If a con-man defrauds you and then dies, you are entitled to ask his heirs to return the stolen money, but not to ask for damages or prison sentences for his misdeeds from the children. In this case, the RIAA would have to prove not copyright infringement, which is his offence if proved, but that the children had inherited money that he had made by infringing copyright. I.e. if he had copied music illegally and given it away, they would have no case to answer. If he had run a business making rip-offs, they might have the right to ask for some of the profits from such as business as being stolen money.
