I'd see a dermatolagist. That seems to work the best for everyone. Nip it in the bud.

Also, my dermatolagist says junk food WON'T make you break out, unless you've found a SPECIFIC one that does that to you. And that's usually only like ONE thing and it's probably related to a food allergy or something. You can eat pizza and burger king and all forms of crap for months and it won't do anything different to your skin.

I dealt with acne from when I was 11 to when I was 17 (and I still get pimples but they're no longer noticeable). I tried almost every cream and face wash out there, and only one worked for me--salt. Yup, table salt. Wash with it once a day. I had almost instant results. When you first start, it HURTS, but the pain doesn't last, and after a few days you don't feel it at all, and the results are so worth it.

One tip though--don't tell your daughter to put on make-up no matter how bad it looks. If she wants make-up she'll do it out of her own will. I was told to put make-up on a lot, and it only served to make me feel ugly. So please don't do that.

Stop consuming meat, high fructose corn syrup, and carbonated beverages.

ETA: Caffeine, also. It ALWAYS breaks me out.

I learned a a trick for small breakouts. If you dab toothpaste on them before you go to bed, they are smaller or gone in the morning. I don't really know how it works, but I have tried it and told others who did too, and it worked for all of us. Good luck, that is a bad age of kids making fun of each other for stupid stuff like that.

When my daughter had trouble with acne, the dermatologist recommended washing with a salicylic acid face wash. You can buy it without a prescription, but you have to ask the pharmacist for it (or at least you had to when my daughter was younger).

Some experiments i've done on my face are :

White Yolk (Make a small crack within the egg and let the googey clear substance fall into the bowl. THE YELLOW YOLK ISNT HEPFUL!)

Directions: Get one of those facial tissues from a box, peel it into small peices. Soak the peices into the bowl, and put it on your face. Keep doing this around your face, avoid eyes and mouth. Start a second layer. Watch it dry, (You know this because it will start hardening. DONT take it off too early!) After you peel the dried facial off, it should remove early pimples; Oepn pores that may lead to blackheads. In the dried paper you can look for like those little small bulbs of yellow. Goodluck!

Washing her face w/a mild soap so it won't dry her skin and make her produce a lot of oil, make sure to use a bit of moisturizer some reg. lotions can do the trick, but use a little and make sure its not oily.

Um... If you have Noxema around the house that can help...

I know this is gross, but if you have eggs, you can put the egg whites on your face and let them dry... you'll feel it tighten up.

And she can mix a bit of sugar w/some soap and mildly use it as a scrub.

My mom's a nurse and used to be a cosmetologist, so she used to have me do these... Good luck.

Don't have her use any chemicals. Drink lots of water, use only herbal things on the face and diet can really make a huge difference. I bet most acne is caused by allergies. I am working on proving that right now.
    This article helped a lot

    Some thoughts on acne:

Your body is using your skin to get rid of stuff that your liver & lungs should be taking care of.

Deep acne in the mouth and nose area can be a reaction to food, some of the top foods are dairy products, wheat, & corn. Usually it is a favorite food, one that is consumed every day. Completely eliminate your favorite food from your diet for two weeks and if your acne gets worse after you start eating it again that is a positive test for that food, avoid it for a few years and you should be desensitized, and you can again incorporate it into your diet. If this is the sole cause of acne, then expect major improvements within a month.

Chronic constipation can result in acne. Do you eat enough fiber? Do your stools float? They should.

Acne that is more on the forehead can be due to liver stress, perhaps from exposure to chemicals, alcohol, or other drugs, or other unknown factors. A Liver flush type of product and/or intensive Silymarin intake can make a big difference here.

Lung are IMHO the major eliminative organ, so any sort of lung stress can agravate acne.

Other acne aggravators are iodine, fatty foods, cured foods, fried foods.

Dry skin brushing is great for overall skin tone and health.

I've tried to keep it practical and succint, I hope it is useful.

I don't know any home remedies, but I do know an excellent skin care line that could help your daughter. It's called Vitamen E by the Body Shop. Every day I use the cleanser, toner, facial serum and the moisture cream. I find that my skin has really cleared up and looks very healthy since I've used it.

There is a great website that has home remedies to try, lots of them, and half way down the page is a diet suggestion to help from the inside out. And the diet is really a healthful one for the whole family, a cleansing really. We eat this way twice a year and always feel so much better that when we do go back to eating the 'naughty stuff' it doesn't make us feel so bad and take months to catch up again. And by that time, it's time to 'cleanse' again:-)

Have her try washing her face, then cleaning it with witch hazel soaked cotton ball followed by applying a benzoyl peroxide cream each night.
