  • A car's speed sensor, also known as a vehicle speed sensor (VSS), detects the speed of the car and is used by different systems in the car. It sends information to the Variable Assist Power Steering System so the power steering pressure can be regulated. It also lets the Anti-Lock Brake System know when a wheel is locked up. In addition, it is used for speedometer information.
