With the reliable hardware of today's window treatments, woven shades are fine and often selected for large windows. They offer great insulation and can come in different kinds of light filtration, such as solar shades.
On the Other: Vertical Blinds More Popular
Most large windows today are outfitted with vertical blinds, especially if the large windows are a sliding glass door. Vertical blinds come in a variety of colors and are known to hold up well, though some would say they can look dated. They also do not offer the same insulation as woven shades.
Bottom Line
In general, there is no one rule saying that woven blinds are ideal or undesirable for larger windows. There are so many products on the market to chose from that it takes a lot of trial and error to find what works for the window you want to treat. Woven blinds can add character and color to any room and, when mounted properly, can work fine on any kind of window, large or small.
