The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is typically taken by high school students in their junior year. The PSAT helps students assess their talents and offers them a chance to win a scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Assessment of Skills
PSAT results provide valuable information regarding which subjects are a student's strong points. This can help them narrow down the options for fields of study in college.
SAT Preparation
The PSAT is formatted and scored similarly to the SAT test. This is excellent preparation for high school students, since many colleges require an SAT test score to apply.
