There are no known negative effects of putting apple cider vinegar in the wash with your clothes in an attempt to remove a pet urine odor. It is typically recommended that you use about 1/4 cup of the vinegar in the final rinse cycle. If that doesn't work, wash the clothes again, adding 1/2 cup of the vinegar in the wash cycle and another 1/2 cup in the final rinse cycle.
On the Other: Use Quality Apple Cider Vinegar
Much of the apple cider vinegar available in grocery stores have been pasteurized, filtered and distilled to make them more visually appealing, but this can take away the efficacy of the product as an odor remover. For the best results, use apple cider vinegar that contains cold-pressed, organically grown apples that contain no preservatives, which can be found at most health food stores and online.
Bottom Line
Apple cider vinegar can be an effective way of removing pet urine odors, although it may take more than one attempt. However, do not attempt to dry the soiled clothes in the dryer until after you have completely removed the odor because you could end up inadvertently locking in the stain and odor.
