Pau d'arco has been used for centuries. Retrieved from the inner bark of the taheebo tree, the herbal supplement pau d'arco is beneficial for a variety of ailments, including those caused by bacteria.
Yeasts and Fungi
Pau d'arco is effective against yeasts and fungi, most notably Candida albicans infections, a stubborn yeast overgrowth that is difficult to rid from the body.
Anti-viral
Pau d'arco is anti-viral, and effective in lessening the duration of viruses. If taken as a preventative, it may bolster the immune system and make one less prone to cold germs.
Anti-parasitic
Pau d'arco is anti-parasitic. It is said to combat parasites such as the malaria virus. It also relieves congestion.
Chemotherapy Side Effects
Pau d'arco is also beneficial to patients undergoing chemotherapy. It has been reported that the herb lessens the side effects of chemotherapy treatment. To get the full benefits of the herb, it is usually steeped in water, such as in tea form, and three to four cups are consumed throughout the day.
Risks of Pau d'arco
Do not take or drink pau d'arco if allergic to trees, most specifically the taheebo tree.
