There are many skills that come in handy to a teacher. Even if you are not naturally skilled in these areas, you can become skilled over time, and they will soon be second nature to you.
Public Speaking Skills
In order to be a good teacher you must be comfortable speaking in front of people. You will be expected to competently communicate with your students, as well as parents and other faculty members.
Listening Skills
Students will always be asking you questions, so it is important that you not only hear them but answer them appropriately and knowledgeably.
Encouragement
You also need to encourage your students to let them know when they are doing a good job. This will give them reason to work even harder in your class.
Organizational Skills
Teachers should have an organized classroom and records, as they must submit students' grades to the school, as well as grade and return papers and tests to students.
Patient
Teachers must be patient. Students do not always comprehend a problem or theory the first time, and it is often necessary to teach it again. Patience is truly a virtue for teachers, as it can be easy to get frustrated with students.
