    Flat panel televisions are coming with advanced signal processors that can simulate surround sound. Unless you are watching something with a multi-channel audio signal for surround sound it isn't going to matter if you have surround sound capabilities anyway.

    Bottom Line

    If you watch a lot of movies and don't have the space for a surround sound home theater system a sound bar is the next best thing. Even if you don't watch a lot of movies you can still appreciate the improved sound quality.
