  • Wherever did you see this? I am a Roman Catholic as are all my family and many friends . I have never known anyone to crucify themselves. They would not be imitating Christ, he DID NOT crucify himself,. He was crucified, I hope you will agree a slight difference If you mean the people that carry the crosses yes i have seen newsreels ot that but self crucifiction I have not seen. Personally If there are fanatics trying to crucify themselves in my opinion they need treatment.
  • This is done in some developing countries, but is not a widespread practice, nor is it condoned by any denomination as a whole, though local leaders may not oppose it. When Christ told us to "carry our cross", he meant to go to any lengths, and be prepared to suffer in the spreading of the Gospel. He did not mean for us to physically harm ourselves...doing this does not win brownie points with God. Jesus died, once and for all, to pay the price of sin: that is what the bible says. There is no need for self-flagellation, or re-crucifixion. If you want to serve Christ, go and tell those who do not know Him, what He has done for the world. That is what His command is in Matthew 28 18-19: 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
  • I dont get it? Bill Hicks once questioned this as well, he put this in the context of JFK, would yo ucarry a gun to a book depository on the day JFK was shot out of respect? If Jesus comes back do you really think he wants to see another cross?
  • I haven't seen an ACTUAL crucifixion either. What I've I've witnessed here in Guatemala are reenactments commemorating the event. I did a quick search on the web however and found that in the Phillipines there are more extreme versions of this: http://www.mb.com.ph/MAIN2007040791304.html andhttp://www.cnn.com/WORLD/europe/9804/10/good.friday/index.html?eref=sitesearch#2 This surprised me a lot.
  • I think that they are very misled in doing this because Christ has done everything for them to save them from their sins. Nothing they do or anyone else does can get them into heaven, only He can and only through His shed blood, death, burial, and ressurection can reconcile them unto God. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • There's a country that I know, and that is, Philippines. But they are doing it for reenactment for what Jesus did and for their gratitudes to the sacrifices of their parents for raising them. Also, Filipinos take it to their heart about their Catholic religion. I still can say that this country is the most Catholic country in the world today, because, almost 90 percent of the population are still Catholics, ahead of Brazil, third is Korea. Their gratitudes to Christ is still very much beyond measure, at least most of them, if not all. Some people mocked them for doing it, but I would say that, these people is just arrogant on their part.
