Be a rebel. Choose global warming or climate change and take a contrary opinion. This belief system is falling apart under the weight of the evidence. Google "climategate" or "climateskeptic." This will definitely stir up passions and allow you to win the arguments too.
I won a lot of debates in high school by choosing controversial topics that no one else wanted to touch even though I was a bad speaker. If you are the only one who has studied a subject well then you will have a leg up on the competition.
