What do you believe is the best deterrent, in order to keep a burglar away from your home?

I think a good alarm and a dog...and a healthy attitude towards life...it will probably happen at least once in a lifetime.

I have 4 dogs. It also helps that the houses on the next street over are worth 4 times more than mine. Why have hamburger when you can have filet mignon?

The best deterrant is awareness. Meaning, don't wait for a burglary in your neighborhood before getting a German Shepard. Find out when the last burglary in your area occurred. Was something taken out of someone's garage after school one day? Or were someone's jewels taken from their home in the middle of the night. Information can go a long way in sizing up a situation. But, ultimately, I would say get a dog.

All good answers and lots of foot traffic, no detectable patterns when the house is empty. Also observant, friendly neighbors will notice if something's not right sometimes.

Just a large, stainless steel dog dish with a little food in it, left where it can't be missed, will do the trick.

A motion light around all entrances to the house, a few alarm company signs around the doors, and dogs are all good ieas.

Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine. 4. Leave a note on your door that reads: Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went for more ammunition. Back in an hour! Don't mess with the pit bulls - they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.
