Which draft? It seems to keep changing as parts of it get shot down by the Republicans.
As he originally proposed it, there wasn't much difference between it and our own here in Canada. Contrary to what the Republicans want people to believe, ours works fine. I'm a cancer patient that hasn't had to drop a dime other than for hospital parking for chemo and rads. Drugs are covered other than a dispensing fee ($ 2.99) my surgey ( had one, having one more and another chemo round....cost me nothing out of pocket. The entire system is there for me as I need it. I can use additional coverage if I like, via a private insurer, but all that really gets me is a private room if I want one.
The main difference between Obama's model and our current system is that Opt out/in of his. We have no choice regarding that. We still have a small % knocked off our income that goes to health care but it's such a small amount nobody notices it so we often forget we actually do pay for it.
Insuring people who can't afford it and allowing immediate, unfettered access to medical care is a great idea. It costs next to nothing, yet can actually save money in the long run by giving care to those who normally wouldn't be getting anything at all until they have a serious condition that requires quite expensive treatment rather than nipping the health problem in the bud before it becomes serious. Then there's lost productivity. Just because someone can't afford private insurance doesn't mean they aren't working. Keeping those people healthy, working and productive saves a company money.
Myself, I hope the republicans don't shoot down much more of Obama's plan. You guys deserve to have a lifespan as long as ours, don't you? We have you beat by a few years and it's mostly due to your current health care. It needs change.

unjust......i think he wants to penalize and burden taxpayers even more....i think the 'care 'part, will end up being controlled and restricted by the government....
i think the change, reform , should be at insurance companies, pharmeceutical co,'s, outrageous hospital and doctors fees...we have free healthcare...and they have it better than alot hard working tax payers......
it should of been regulating all these companies........the wealthy merchants of healthcare, making it more and more impossible for all of us.....
he targets the wrong ones, get the REAL villians......its unjust and unfair....
just like the 'bailouts' of the 'fatcats' that he said he wasn't interested in doing....and he did anyway....he should not of bailed them out at our expense....but he did, he should of let them fall....
