Do you think the Bible was rewritten to remove evidence that women were equal to men in ancient times? and example would be the story of Isaac, if you make him Sarah's son instead of Abraham the story makes sense concerning Ismael.

I cant say much for the equality of women in those times as ive never studied the bible against the cultures "true" history. I do belive however the bible to be shovinistic and plays down the importance of women and their true potential power... that and i think god (if she is to be personified) is female. Though ultimately im no longer christian in the classic sense and dont belive in god as a being that can be personified.

Outside of the Biblical text, there is plenty of evidence that women did not have societal equallity in the middle east. In fact, they still don't.

However, the Bible doesn't even make the case that women are not equal. It simply states the "tradition" role of women to not be the leaders in society.

The Angels appeared to Abraham and told him his wife Srah would have a son, Sarah knowing she was past child bearing years lightly laughed, the Angels said is anything impossible for God, Sarah will have a son, this took 5 years according to Bible experts, Meanwhile, ---- Sarh said to Abraham go to my Egyption maid and we can have a son, Abraham agreed and had Ishmael. In God almightye eyes yes a son but not Abraham and Sarahs son, not the son almighty God was speaking about because the Egyption maid wasn"t married to Abraham, when married, you are considered 1 person to God almighty. After that Sarah Bore Issac by Abraham, this is the son almighty God spoke of. We also read in the Bible, Sarah asked Abraham her husband to Bless Ismael, Abraham said I will Bless Ishmael but the main Blesssing will be to Issac. Bible experts believe Ismael the father of Araboic people and nations, while Issac went on to form the 7 tribes if Israel.
