  • Yes I have. It runs in my family. Thanks to some good friends, a couple of good behavior health specialists, some research to understand the causes/physiology of the condition, some life changes, and a small amount of medication, I'm doing immensely better. Depression is an illness and should be treated, just like malaria, hypothyroidism or diabetes.
  • Certainly. I have even been clinically depressed. Sometimes reality can be depressing. Sometimes I can be chemically depressed usually from too much stress or lack of sleep etc.
  • Yes, I was for about a year after military duty. I was treated fairly well, and got through it. I don't have much problem with it anymore.
  • I definately have. I have battled with it all of my life, even as a small child and continuing through to now and the future. It runs in the family.
  • Quite often! :) It's the human condition; those who don't experience it are freaks of nature. Ok maybe not, but wow I'm jealous of them.
  • Yes, it happens. Sometimes just talking to someone about your depression helps a bit.

  • No, never ... I'm 49, single, have 3 children I almost never see, have been dumped while engaged to be married TWICE ... I was the only survivor of a car crash that crushed & pinned me and made me watch my three computer business partners die, then went bankrupt because our business loan did not have the added life insurance and as the surviving partner, I had to pay while I was spending 16 months in a wheelchair ... but I still have the ability to feel good about my self & my life ...
  • drank heavily. cocaine. i'm kidding. just enjoy the little stuff. i would get depressed because i don't know what i'm going to do with my life.

  • do some sun bathing if possible. face directly towards the sun with your eyes closed for 15 minutes each day. also, watch funny TV shows. avoid the news and any drama. eat some chocolate. get in a swimming pool. even if you dont swim just get in and move around. if you dont have a pool take a bath. avoid alcohol and drugs.
  • honestly - a real good workout or some form of exercise helps me.
  • Look around, No matter how bad you feel there are a lot of folks much worse off than you are. Chances what's upsetting you today will be replaced with something else tomorrow, So don't sweat the small stuff.
  • Trying to take my mind off my problems by keeping myself busy. And, as I have children, I told myself I couldn't let them down and had to put my act back together.
