  • Yes I think it will over take them. I deliver to the plant that makes the Tundra and they can't make enough.
  • Here are pictures of the 2007 full-size pickups.
  • Yes, they already are. Toyota makes the arguably highest-quality cars in the world and bringing this expertise to the full-sized truck market spells trouble for both Ford and Chevrolet.
  • Yes, but they are getting off to a slower start this year than they thought. Two months after its release, Toyota put another $1,000 discount on it ( very rare for Toyota). Last week, the Tundra scored a four star rating on front end crash tests. All of the Detroit Full size trucks scored a Five Star rating that will give them an advantage there. Toyota is not perfect either.
  • Toyota will put a significant dent in the pickup truck sales of GM and Ford (who knows how much longer Chrysler will be around?), but I doubt that they'll ever take over the #1 spot. First of all, pickup truck owners tend to be more brand-loyal than other vehicle owners, so a lot of "Ford guys" and "Chevy guys" won't buy Toyota for any reason. Also, a lot of pickup truck sales are to commercial and government fleets. I don't think switching from a domestic-branded make to Toyota (even though the Tundra is made in Texas) is politically viable for many of those fleets.
  • It may take a little time, but invariably the Tundra will (negatively) impact Ford and Chevy pickup sales - just like Toyota has done in every other market sector they enter... FYI - Tundras are also made in Indiana.
