Computer core processors, or CPUs (Central Processing Units), are essential parts of a computer. Every computer needs one of them to function properly. They can be called the "brain" of the computer because of the functions they carry out.
Processing Information
Computer processors process information in their cores, which allows programs, like the Internet browser you are using right now, to work.
Inside of a Processor
The processor is made out of lead and contains a core, which is the actual processor, under the thermal surface.
Location
A processor is attached to the motherboard of your computer and is covered by a heatsink and fan that help cool it.
Types of Processors
There are many different kinds of processors, such as single core, dual core and even quad core.
Functions
Some processors, such as the Intel Xeon, are used strictly in servers. Whereas other processors, such as the Intel Pentium, are used for basic computer needs, such as personal computing.
