Macs are considered best for design due mostly to ease of use. Mac operating systems are also generally considered more reliable, and the company has a solid reputation for design software. Though most design software is now supported by other operating systems, including Windows, some programs will operate only on a Mac.

Macs are generally more dependable when memory-consuming design programs are in use. Mac computers are typically less prone to bugs, viruses and other system failures, and are therefore a better choice for graphic design artists in the workplace.

Some designers prefer a Mac for its "shortcut" keys and methods. These tricks help diminish the time spent on a particular project and make it easier to multi-task or "jump" between different jobs.
Considerations
Some of the best graphic design software available may only be used on a Mac. Other operating systems provide the same software, but many of these programs were originally designed for Macs and may encounter reliability issues when run on other systems.
Benefits
Installing Virtual PC (VPC) on some Mac operating systems allows the user to run Windows from a Mac. This feature allows you to access Windows-based programs and files from a Mac.
Image Rendering
Macs render images differently than other systems. Different color profile settings may help designers visualize on-screen what an image will look like in print or other media.
